You’re Going to Have to Be More Specific, Please

April 29, 2009

Reporter: “Hi there. I’m wondering if you have any information on the potato farm near Ladysmith.”

Me: “Which potato farm is that?”

Reporter: “Oh, we just heard there was a potato farm up there.”

Me: “Well, we do have an agricultural research station in Spooner — are you thinking of that? That’s kind of up there, but it’s not really near Ladysmith…”

Reporter: “I don’t know.”

Me: “Is it a university facility?”

Reporter: “I don’t know.”

“Oh, you went to Penn State? I work with a guy who went there! Do you know Dan…Evans? Abrams? Allen? Something like that. Tall guy. Wears glasses.”

I have to admit, though, that I’m notorious for saying things like, “Oh, you’re Scottish? I have a friend who went there once!”

In fact, I think I’ve actually done that in your presence šŸ˜›

Damn potato perverts. Is there a 900 number they could be calling instead?

You missed out on an opportunity to create a perfectly fictional potato farm and blame the misinformation on someone else.

Put the farm in the middle of nowhere and tell the reporter that it’s underground because ‘that’s where the potatoes grow.’

I am not the Dan you’re looking for.
